A man was taken to the hospital with apparent non-life-threatening injuries after being shot Tuesday evening, police told News-Press NOW.

Police identified the victim of the shooting on Wednesday as 55-year-old Jeff S. Epps, who was treated at the hospital for a gunshot wound and was released.

Law enforcement and EMS initially arrived on the scene of Ninth and Powell streets around 7:30 p.m. after reports of shots fired. Police Chief Paul Luster said when they arrived, they found an adult man who had been shot. He was taken to a local hospital.

Three people were arrested at the scene at 812 Powell Street, including one juvenile and another individual with an active warrant.

At this time, none of the individuals have been charged in connection with the shooting incident. Police currently have one suspect and are in the early stages of their investigation.

Upon arrival, a News-Press NOW reporter saw four people exit the home with their hands up. It’s not known how they were involved. At one point, a large group of officers wearing tactical gear were seen moving into the home.

Several police vehicles, including a Special Response Team vehicle, were stationed outside of the house for more than three hours.
