JESSUP, Md. – Anna Mae Johnson, 79, passed away on April 19, 2024, in Jessup, Maryland. She was born on Nov. 25, 1944, in St. Joseph, to George E. and Gertrude E. (Tapp) Stone.

She is survived by her children, Jessica Howard, Alan Howard, Ina Howard, Angela Howard, Billy Howard Jr., Rosetta Jackson (Marcus), Phyllis Hughes, and Marcella Massey (Marcus). Her legacy of love continues to bloom in the hearts of her 19 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. Cousins Thelma Berry, Robert Harris, and Marsha Harris, along with her best friend, Shirley Williamson, also share in the loss of Anna.

While she was preceded in death by her parents, George and Gertrude Stone, daughter, Audrey Howard, brothers, Lester and Charles Stone, Anna’s spirit lives on through her extended family and numerous friends who felt her warmth.

Anna’s work life was characterized by years of devoted service at the state hospital, followed by driving a school bus after retirement.

Anna was an avid bowler, her laughter echoing through the alleys where she spent joyful times as a longtime member of her bowling team, The Saturday Night Mixers. Yet, nothing surpassed the delight she took in spending precious moments with her grandchildren.

Farewell Services 10 a.m. Friday, May 3, 2024, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. Interment Memorial Park Cemetery.

The family will gather with friends one hour prior to the service.
